Background

Mr.Sione Sisifa joined the Crown Law Department in 2000, after having graduated with an LLB from the University of the South Pacific and having been admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of Fiji. Upon joining the Crown Law Department he was appointed as an Assistant Crown Counsel before being promoted to Crown Counsel in 2005 and Assistant Senior Crown Counsel in 2007. He was admitted as a Law Practitioner of the Supreme Court of Tonga in 2000.

He is  an executive member of the Tonga Law Society, Pacific Prosecutors Association and the Pacific Maritime Law Association (PIMLA).

Experience

Mr. Sisifa was appointed to the post Solicitor General on 31 October 2014, a position he currently holds. The Solicitor General is responsible for all legal matters referred by the Government and the Cabinet to the Crown Law Department and has appeared on behalf of the Government in a wide range of legal cases. However, the main areas of practice that the Solicitor General has been involved with has been in the areas of public law, criminal law, commercial law and international law.
